Frederick "Fred" Barth
May 14, 1942 - March 21, 2011

Frederick “Fred/Papa” Barth, 68 of Oelwein, died Monday, March 21, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

 Fred was born May 14, 1942 in Oelwein, IA to Ernest and Luetta (Sims) Barth.  He grew up in the area and graduated from Oelwein High School in 1960.  After high school Fred enlisted in the Navy and received an Honorable Discharge in 1966.  He worked for Donaldson’s in Oelwein until his retirement.  His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and friends. 

Fred was a hard worker and loved life.  He put up a strong fight to the end.  He was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, as well as a great friend to all.  Fred will be dearly missed.

 Fred is survived by his wife, Cheryl, his children, Cindy (Tim) Schreiber of Waterloo, Brian (Charity) Barth of Texas, Chris (Barb) Reaves of Algona, Phillip (Heidi) Barth of Waterloo, Traci (Duane) Canfield of Oelwein.  His Grandchildren, Nathan (Tiffany) Reaves, Brianne Reaves (Jerrad Bentley), Kara Schreiber, Erin Barth, Karis Barth, Zachary Reaves (Robyn Wagenknect), Nicole Reaves, Jessica Barth, Sarah Barth, Brandon Reaves (Chantel Dempsey), Haley Reaves, and Seth Canfield.  His Great Grandchildren, Cooper, Tayler, Maddux, Ella, and Ace.  His siblings, Vickie (Marlin) Weyant of Oelwein, Kenny (Wendy) Barth of Michigan, Pat Bradfield of Wisconsin, and Mary (Gary) Smith of Oelwein.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Luetta.   

 

Visitation:  Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 5 – 7pm at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, Iowa.

Services:  Wednesday, March 23, 2011, 7pm at Geilenfeld Funeral Home, with Pastor Ginny Bass officiating.  Burial will be at a later date.
