Denny Arlo Beaman
November 14, 1944 - July 31, 2010

            Denny was born on November 14, 1944 in Manchester, Iowa to Anthony “Ted” and Maxine (Washburn) Beaman.  He attended the Lamont schools.  Denny fought in the Viet Nam war from August 9, 1965 to August 8, 1967.  He was in the Army and came home a Spc. 4th Class E4.  Denny was a very good provider and hard worker.  He worked for Trumblee Tiling Co. in his younger years and helped do some farm work.  He washed cars at Marty’s Car Wash in Cedar Rapids, reconditioned used cars for Stevens Motor Co. of Cedar Rapids, and did janitorial work and plated parts for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids.  Denny traveled with a carnival and ran a game on the midway.  He did commercial fishing out of Clearwater, Florida and worked in the shipyard welding on nuclear submarines in Pascagoula, Florida.  He worked janitorial and with horses for his niece and her husband, Lyle and Lori Hanson of the Cedar Rapids area. Denny also did road work with Union Construction and worked last at All State Foods in Charles City, Iowa.

            Denny married his first wife, Luzzette Buiss from Clearwater, Florida who later died of cancer.  Denny then married his second wife, Linda Marie (Schaffer) on December 27, 1986 at the Eagles Club in Oelwein; she passed away on August 4, 2001.  Denny enjoyed having his family around him, especially his “Babies”.  He enjoyed the photos his sister would send from Arkansas of flooding and ice storms, calves and the niece’s colts.  His hobbies included camping, fishing, sight-seeing road trips and going to the Hanson’s to see the horses and colts.

            Denny married his third wife, Angie (Schneider/Fish/Wedo) on May 11, 2009 in the front yard of their home with Rev. Darwin Moore officiating.

            Denny is survived by his wife Angie of Oelwein; one sister Sharon (Mike) Huston of Big Flat, Arkansas; one brother James; 12 step-children and “adopted” children: John Walker, Andy Walker of Oelwein, Mike (Mandy) Walker of Oelwein, Mary Brewer of Seale, Alabama, Freemont Fish of Oelwein, Ray (Tamara) Fish of Winthrop, Tammy Fish of Oelwein, Dorene (Dick) Roberts of Oelwein, Jerry (Ronda) Larson of Waterloo, Sandra (Jeff) Heins of Lamont, Abdul Bouagadi of Bettendorf, and Peg Larson of Oelwein.  He leaves 36 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and 3 god-daughters from Oklahoma; also a special Uncle Keith and 2 special Aunts Margaret and Genevieve.

            Denny was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, first and second wives, one god-daughter Kiatana Lili and one great-grandchild.

 

            SERVICES:  Friday, August 6, 2010, 10:20 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Oelwein, Iowa with Rev. Darwin Moore officiating.  Burial will be at a later date.

 

            VISITATION:  Thursday, August 5, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Geilenfeld Funeral Home with Military rites at 7:00 p.m. led by Ross Reid Post #9.

Not mentioned in the above obituary was the fact that Denny was survived by three special nieces; Lori Hanson of Cedar Rapids, Lynnette Merta of Walford, Ia and Lesley Finder of Cedar Rapids Ia.
