Beverly Bailey
April 19, 1930 - September 3, 2018

Beverly Jean Bailey, 88, of Oelwein passed away on Monday September 3, 2018 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.  Visitation will be from 9:00AM -1:00PM on Saturday September 8, 2018 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Memorial services will begin at 1:00PM.  A memorial fund has been established.

Beverly was born on April 19, 1930 in Westgate, IA to parents Archie and Hilda (Mohlis) McClain.  She graduated from the Oran High School with the class of 1948.  On June 13, 1949 she was united in marriage with John William Bailey at the United Brethren Church in Sumner, IA.  Beverly had been employed in banking and was co-owner of Bailey’s Café for forty-six years.

Beverly was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Oelwein and the Ladies Aide.  She was a former member of the United Methodist Church of Oran.  Beverly loved dancing, enjoyed gardening, spending time at the cabin, shopping, visiting with friends, time at the Williams Center, driving around the countryside and going out to eat.  Most of all, she enjoyed her family and grandchildren.

Left to celebrate Beverly’s life are her children: Robert (Marsha) Bailey of Dike, IA, Mary (Dan) Contreras of Woodbury, MN  and Ann (Jim) Vondrak of Westchester, IL; her grandchildren: Greg (Nancy) Contreras, Dan Contreras Jr., Damon Contreras, Heather (Ethan) Campbell, Laurie (Kevin) McLaughlin, Jill (Barry) Derekson and Katie Vondrak; her great-grandchildren: Baylee, Carson, Ryker, Addy, Lauren, Maria, Julia, Toni, and Emma; her sisters: Betty Smith of Cedar Rapids, IA and Sandi Sandhagen of Peoria, AZ, as well as many nephews and nieces.  Also stepson Larry Jr (Deb) and two step grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John (November 14, 2001), her second husband Larry Morrison (March 30, 2016), her brothers: Duane McClain and Jim McClain; and her sister Iva Mickelson.

I worked at the Bank when Bev worked there. I always enjoyed her wonderful smile and attitude. She was a joy. I will carry fond memories of Beverly. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. May she rest in peace.

Our deepest sympathy to all of you. Just saw Bev a few months ago, she was the sweetest lady. I enjoyed working for her (cleaning the bank) years ago and our conversations. She will be missed. Thoughts & prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. (Bob was also my school teacher)
