Carol S. (Greene) Wolff, 79, passed away on February 13, 2026, at MercyOne in Oelwein, Iowa, following a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma which she fought with remarkable strength, dignity, and grace.
Carol was born on December 4, 1946, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of John and Vera (Bombei) Greene. She graduated in 1965 from Tri-County High School in What Cheer. As the first of eight children, Carol naturally embraced a lifelong role of leadership, guidance, and devotion within her family.
Carol was united in marriage to Dennis Wolff on September 28, 1968, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Keswick. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, faith, friendship, and partnership. Together they built a home rooted in faith, family traditions, and unwavering support for one another. A devoted homemaker, Carol created a warm and welcoming home for her family. She was an exceptional cook whose meals brought loved ones together around the table, strengthening the bonds she cherished so deeply. She was a proud and constant supporter of her children, Tim and Angie, and enjoyed celebrating their events and accomplishments with heartfelt enthusiasm.
Carol and Dennis treasured their time together camping, boating, and traveling on numerous John Deere bus trips across the United States, making lasting memories and connections along the way. She also found joy in reading, working puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles, and cross-stitching. Yet above all else, Carol’s greatest joy was her family. She loved them passionately and without reservation.
Carol possessed a radiant smile and an infectious warmth that could light up any room. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel remembered and valued. Each year, she carefully hand-recorded the birthdays and anniversaries of family and friends so she could send a thoughtful message in celebration of their special day — a simple yet profound reflection of her generous spirit and loving heart.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis; her children, Tim (Holly) Wolff of Independence and Angie (Todd) Hemmingsen of Ankeny; her grandchildren, Ashten (Adam) Ludwig, Katie Wolff, Carson (Tori) Wolff, Tanner Hemmingsen, and Garrett Hemmingsen; her great-grandchildren, Ella, Amelia, and Adalynn; her siblings, John Greene; Gerald (Holly) Greene; Joan Braymen; Mary Smith; Denise (John) Conrad; and Roberta (Dave) Stakland; along with many nieces and nephews who were dear to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Judy Greene; her brother-in-law, Dale Smith; and her nephew, Ian Stakland.
Carol’s life was a beautiful reflection of faith, devotion, and selfless love. Her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the enduring example of grace and kindness she leaves behind. A memorial fund has been established for later designation by the family.
