Carolyn Stammeyer, 68, of Oelwein passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020.  Services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oelwein Public Library.

Carolyn Kay Stammeyer was born June 25, 1951 in Centerville, Iowa to parents Carroll and Kathryn (McNeal) Beem.  She graduated from Ames High School with the class of 1969.  She then attended the Iowa State University, graduating in 1973.  On November 24, 1973 she was united in marriage with Frank Stammeyer in Ames, Iowa. Carolyn worked with the Oelwein Community School District for 33 years. During her tenure she worked as a para-educator with special education, advised the high school yearbook, Public Relations director, and ended working as an English teacher at the middle school, retiring in 2013.

During her free time she enjoyed reading, spending time with her friends, and spoiling her granddaughters.  One of her greatest passions was being able to be their first teacher by reading to them every chance she had.  Throughout her life she was active in Beta Sigma Phi, P.E.O., Faith Family and Friends, Tuesday Tourists and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
