Delphine Deaner, 61, of Hazleton passed away Friday June 20, 2025 at her home. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday June 27, 2025 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein with Rosary Services beginning at 3:30 PM and Parish Scripture Services beginning at 6:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM on Saturday June 28, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.
Delphine Renee Potter was born in Oelwein on June 6, 1964 to parents Frances (Ledesma) and Delbert Potter Sr. She graduated from Oelwein High School with the class of 1982. Delphine then attended the University of Iowa, graduating with her BS Degree in Dental Hygiene with the class of 1987.
After college, in 1987, Delphine moved to the Twin Cities to start her career as a dental hygienist. That is where she met her husband, Steve. They completed each other’s lives, and married in April of 1997. They then bought their family home and apple orchard in Hazleton in 1999. The light of her life, Adam, was born in October of 2001. When not working as a dental hygienist, Delphine was very involved in Relay for Life, Sacred Heart Catholic Daughters and the Rosary Society. Delphine also started the Oelwein Farmers Market in 2001 and enjoyed selling apples at various local markets. She was well known within the Amish community and was known as the “apple lady”. She enjoyed spreading her knowledge about apples. Delphine loved spending time with family and friends as well as anyone who needed a helping hand. She left a positive, everlasting impression on everyone she met. Delphine was known by many for her kind, caring, and generous soul.
Left to celebrate Delphine’s life are her husband Steve Deaner of Hazleton; her son Adam (Olivia) Deaner of Hazleton; her father Delbert (Linda) Potter Sr. of Oelwein; her siblings: Lisa Potter of Oelwein, Delbert (Deb) Potter Jr. of Hazleton, Jack (Denise) Potter of Oelwein and Joseph Potter of Oelwein; her step-siblings: Teresa (Loren Staake) Pfister, Brenda Potter, Jodi Potter, Tony (Monique) Tafolla, Terry Tafolla, Tammy Tafolla, Tracy (Jami) Tafolla and Travis (Heidi) Tafolla; her brothers-in-law: Francisco Lopez, Mike (Katy) Deaner and Brian (Nancy) Deaner; several nieces and nephews; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother Frances Potter; her step-father Daryl Potter; her step-sister Deanna Lopez; her mother and father-in-law James and Marilyn Deaner.
