She married Jon Smith on January 14th, 1989, in Oelwein Iowa. They were blessed with four children: Sarah, Alyssa, Tanner, and Blake. As a mother she was loving, kind and humorous. She loved doting on her three grandchildren and all the neighborhood children, making sure to have plenty of popsicles and treats on hand.

In her spare time, Gale enjoyed tending to her flower beds, watching the birds in the morning while drinking her coffee, reading, and watching her favorite soap, The Young and the Restless. She loved getting together with family to play cards, listening to music, and sharing a sandwich with her cat Sophie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Steven Graesch.

Survivors include her husband Jon Smith of Hazleton Iowa; her children: Sarah Smith of Dubuque Iowa, Alyssa (Michael) Prohaska of Dubuque Iowa, Tanner (McKayla) Smith of El Paso Texas, Blake (Destiney Campbell) Smith of Wyoming Iowa; three grandchildren: Braylon, Addison, and Chelsea; her siblings Deb (JR) McManigle, Ray (Jeanne) Graesch, and sister-in-law Stacy (Bob) Jones; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
