Janet Reisner
December 30, 1971 - April 17, 2024

Janet Reisner, 52, of Oelwein, passed away Wednesday, April17, 2024 at MercyOne Medical Center in Oelwein.  A Memorial Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Guests are encouraged to show their Hawkeye pride.  Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

Janet Ann Reisner was born in Portsmouth, VA on December 30, 1971 to parents Gerald “Frank” and Debra (Rohrick) McLaury.  She graduated from Oelwein High School with the class of 1990.  Janet later attended Hawkeye Community College, as well as Northeast Iowa Community College.  On February 7, 2021 she was united in marriage with Timothy “Papie” Reisner.

Janet had been employed as manager with Leo’s Italian Restaurant in Oelwein and was also employed with Mercy Hospital in Oelwein as both a Nurse’s Aide and an EMT, as well as with ALC in Oelwein.  She was employed with East Penn in Oelwein at the time of her passing.

“Toad,” “Mom,” “Mama J,” “Aunt Toughy,” “Nay Nay,”—All names that represented the most important aspects of her life.  Janet loved her family deeply and worked hard to take care of them every day.  She built a beautiful life with her husband, instilled the value of hard work in her daughters, and never missed an opportunity to express gratitude toward her son-in-law.  Janet saved the best for last in her role as “Nay Nay” to her grandson, Nile, whom she loved unconditionally and was so proud of.  Janet lived her life to make others’ better, whether it was through various public service occupations, her softball leagues, making you more cheesy potatoes than you could ever know what to do with, or offering candy to 2nd shift.

Left to celebrate Janet’s life are her children: Kaylie Jo (Cole) Lavarias of Colorado Springs, CO, and Macie Burkhart of Oelwein; her grandson Nile; her mother Debra (Brett Mahoney) McLaury; her brother Mike (Ashlie) McLaury of LaCassa, TN and sister Amy Dahl of Oelwein; her mother-in-law Mary Reisner of Oelwein; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Frank McLaury; her husband Papie; and her father-in-law Skip Reisner.
