Jennifer Hunziker
December 1, 1976 - January 13, 2017

Jennifer Ann Albrecht Hunziker, 40, of Fairbank passed away on Friday January 13, 2017 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo from complications of Lyme Disease. Visitation will be on Thursday January 19, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:30pm at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein with a Rosary Service at 3:45pm. Services will be on Friday January 20, 2017 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein, with Father Paul McManus and Deacon James Patera officiating.  A memorial fund has been established by the family.

Jennifer was born December 1, 1976 in Independence the daughter of David and Debra (Van Daele) Albrecht. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1995. On April 23, 2005 she was united in marriage with Bradley Hunziker in Fairbank.  Jennifer was the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Estes Agronomic Int’l. She also was a great mother and homemaker. If Jennifer had one fault it was always being late for anything she attended. She enjoyed a good story and she always told the long version, had a great memory and never forgot anything, which also worked well with her story telling. She was a big dreamer and fought a valiant and courageous battle against Lyme Disease the last seven years. Jennifer helped many others who suffered from Lyme Disease; but her greatest love was her family, they meant everything to her. Jennifer touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all.

Jennifer is survived by her husband Brad of Fairbank; her three children: Morgan, Brexton and Sadie; two brothers: Jason (Jamie) Albrecht of Hazleton and Quinn (Nicole) Albrecht of Indianola; parents Debra (Edward) Bormann of Oelwein and David (Kris) Albrecht of Fairbank; grandmother Angeline Van Daele of Fairbank; mother-in-law Patricia (Ed) Husmann of Independence and father-in-law Larry (Pat) Hunziker of Shellsburg and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents Arthur Van Daele, Herbert and Ilene Albrecht, Barbara and Mitch Mitchell and Roger Bormann.

I'm so sorry for the loss of this dear lady. She's the same age as me and it angers me that Lyme disease is taking so many lives . My hop is one day doctors will acknowledge the disease and help us when the onset begins and stop the denial. She now leaves her children behind, which shouldn't be the case . The doctors anger me! God Bless the entire family at this time and in her memory , please bring the awareness out there about Lyme disease kills. I know the battle and struggle with this disease and the fight to live everyday. My only prayer is that the ones we've lost to Lyme and the ones who are still battling like myself - keep pushing and forcing the government to recognize this disease . I'm so tired ?? from the battle myself , but I pray my energy does come back one day - so I too can fight for those who loss the battle to Lyme. We need change and we need it quickly. My heart ?? breaks for your loss. Once again blessings in Our Lird Jesus name.

As an individual who suffers from chronic Lyme disease, I extend my greatest compassion to Jennifer's loved ones. As an advocate/activist and actionist for the disease and those who are ill - my voice carries in your name and footsteps. We never walk alone, not on this side, not on the other side. Please support World Lyme Day on May the 1st, an international awareness day for Lyme disease. We are united, together and we will make a change. All of our voices all of our love for one another. Let this never happen again. Each of us matters. Jennifer matters.
