Joyce Woods, 61, of Randalia passed away on Tuesday September 15, 2015 at Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union.  Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Monday September 21, 2015 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein with Vigil Services at 7:30 PM.  Funeral Mass will be at 11 AM on Tuesday September 22, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  For condolences, please visit www.geilenfeldfh.com.

Joyce was born on August 14, 1954 in Waterloo, IA to parents Raymond T. and Mary (Senosk) Downs.  She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1972.  She was a Special Education Associate with the Oelwein Community School District.  Joyce had been a longtime textile buyer and retail buyer for the clothing industry, which allowed her to travel to many places.  On June 2, 2002, Joyce was united in marriage with Tommy Woods at the Victory Christian Church in West Union.

Family was of the most importance to Joyce.  She was affectionately referred to as ‘Nana’ by the loves of her life, her grandsons.  She was also adored by many nieces and nephews.  Joyce was from an adventurous family of nine.  She enjoyed travelling to visit her siblings around the country.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew, and continue to love her.

Left to celebrate Joyce’s life is her husband Tommy; her daughters Courtney Woods of Oelwein and Rachel Woods of Marion; her grandsons, Brady Fettkether, Drakesyn Woods and Christian Watermann; her sisters: Rosemary Lamphier of Oelwein and Nancy Langherer of Kingman, KS; her brothers: Michael Downs of Scottsdale, AZ, Peter Downs of Cedar Falls, Timothy Downs of Readlyn and John Downs of Chandler, AZ; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Dave Downs and Gary Downs; and her great-nephew Jeffrey.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Joyce. Tony knew the family well as he and Tim were like brothers. I (Cyndi) was a CF High graduate in 1974 last name then of "Wittren" and I have two sisters one from class of 1973 and one 1971 that knew Joyce from school. Our prayers are with the whole family during this difficult time.

My thoughts and prayers are with Joyce's family. Joyce and I were best of friends in our younger days with many shared happy times. Although we lost touch over the years I often wondered how she was doing but unfortunately wasn't able to get in touch. I am so glad she found her way home and had a wonderful family because of all other things family was always the most important to her. Joyce had a kind heart and good soul and will be sincerely missed. I will forever think of you as I pass Red Rocks the scene of one of our favorite adventures. See you at the Rainbow Bridge my friend - Love Always!!!!

To the family of Joyce~~I had the privilege to meet Joyce a few times through my kids (steimel's) and she was definitely a truly remarkable woman! She treated my grandchildren like they were her own. Also, we shared a birthday :-) I am SO sorry for your loss, God took a good woman way too soon, but I just know she is out of pain now!
God Bless
