Julie was born October 18, 1950, in Bismarck, North Dakota, the daughter of Raymond Lee Olson and Naomi (Lapp) Olson. On January 22, 1967, Julie was united in marriage to Ronald Lee Truog in Jesup, IA. They lived in Oelwein, IA their entire married life. Her husband, Ronnie, preceded her in death on March 9, 2018. She retired from the Oelwein Post Office on Oct. 31, 2009. Julie moved to Jesup in May 2020 to be closer to her family.

Julie is survived by two sisters, Marie (Leonard) Spencer, of Louisville, KY, Dorothy (Larry) Thompson, of Jesup, two brothers, Raymond Olson (JR), of Fargo, ND and Kenneth (Therese) Olson of Jesup.  Also, many amazing nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, who made life so special for them as well as for herself.

In addition to her husband Ron, she was preceded in death by one son in infancy, Rodney, her parents, one brother, Dennis Olson, and three great nieces, Audrey, Grace and Isabelle Anhalt.

Julie was always full of life and felt fulfilled by creating joy for the kids as often as she could by playing cards, sledding, walking through “Sherwood Forest”, or having a picnic at one of many local parks. She was an amazing cook and loved preparing meals for the family.
