Kimberly (Ellis) Butler
April 3, 1978 - May 30, 2015

Kimberly Marie Butler, 37, of Tiffin, IA passed away on Saturday May 30, 2015 at her home due to complications of Congenital Heart Disease.  Visitation will be from 3-7 PM on Tuesday June 2, 2015 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Wednesday June 3, 2015 at the funeral home as well.  Interment will be in Cass Township Cemetery at Strawberry Point, IA.  Memorials may be directed to Iowa Legal Aid. 

Kim was born in Oelwein, IA on April 3, 1978 to parents Steve and Becky (Tryon) Ellis.  She Graduated from Oelwein High School in 1996.  She then graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with her degree in Criminology and Political Science in 2001.  She later graduated from the University of Iowa School of Law in 2008.  She was an Attorney with Iowa Legal Aid in Cedar Rapids until her illness made her unable to work.  On September 26, 2009 Kim was united in marriage with Mark Butler at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein.  She enjoyed sporting events, especially those of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Bears.  Most important to Kim was her friends and family.  She will be dearly missed.

Left to celebrate Kim’s life is her husband Mark; her mother Becky Ellis of Oelwein; her in-laws: Susan and Art Butler of Fort Madison; her brothers in-law: Jeremy (Christine Chappel) Butler of Lamont and Adam (Andrea) Butler of Omaha, NE; her niece Brooklyn Butler; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father Steve Ellis; her brother Matthew Ellis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

there are no words to express my sorrow for all of you. I adored Kim 100% I always looked forward to our conversations. I loved helping Becky and her when they were coming to the U. Mark, I am completely heart broken for you. Cherish all the memories and fun times, sending hugs to all of you.

I worked with Kim at Iowa Legal Aid and saw what a determined spirit and compassionate soul lead her work. It was a pleasure to serve alongside her and to learn with and from her.
