Larry Leroy Forney, 75, of Oelwein passed away on Tuesday April 4, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein.  Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Larry was born on August 7, 1941 in Independence to parents Lawrence and Marietta (Cue) Forney.  He graduated from Oelwein High School with the class of 1960.  Larry then attended and graduated from a trade school in Hartford, MO with a degree in Industrial Technology.  On April 27, 1968 he was united in marriage with Sandra Lincoln in Strawberry Point.

Larry was employed for 11 years repairing office equipment.  He then spent the next 31 years employed with Powers Manufacturing in Waterloo.  Larry enjoyed working on cars and lawn tractors.  He also enjoyed classic cars and was a member of the Oelwein Odd Rods.

Left to celebrate Larry’s life are his wife Sandra; his children: Harry Forney of Waterloo, Tom (Melissa Ledesma) Forney of Waterloo, Roy (Melissa) Forney of LaPorte City and Lea Forney of Oelwein; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Darlene Follmer, Deanna Parker, Carma Strempke, Gary (Bonnie) Forney, Jerry Forney and Don (Teresa) Forney.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers-in-law: Kenneth Follmer, Doug Parker and Roger Strempke.
