Leland Doudney
October 17, 1935 - September 22, 2016

Leland “Sonny” Doudney, 80, of Oelwein passed away on Thursday September 22, 2016 at Grandview Health Care Center in Oelwein.  Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Monday September 26, 2016 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home.  Private family graveside services will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein.  

Leland “Sonny” was born on October 17, 1935 in Oelwein to parents Herbert and Edith (Fox) Doudney.  He attended Oelwein schools.  On July 3, 1965 he was united in marriage with Melba Lee at Preston, MN.  Sonny had been employed with the City of Oelwein Street Dept. as well as Woodlawn Cemetery.  Following retirement, he had been employed with Buehler Sanitation.  He was an avid gardener and enjoyed classic cars.

Left to Celebrate Sonny’s life are his children: Herb (Gail) Doudney of Oelwein, Newt (Irene) Doudney of Oelwein and Pam Doudney of Oelwein; his grandchildren: Jacob, Joshua, Josie, Jennifer and Jayden Doudney, Tara Scott, Samantha and Ciara Murphy; and his 17 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife Melba (2010), his parents and his sister Mardell.
