LeRoy Hand
May 3, 1945 - April 29, 2020

LeRoy Hand, 74, of Oelwein passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital in Des Moines.  A private family service will be held.  A memorial fund has been established.

LeRoy was born May 3, 1945 in Independence to parents Vernon Hand and Eunice (Anson) Hand.  He graduated from Independence High School in 1963.  LeRoy then served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967-1969 during which he earned a Combat Infantry Badge, 3 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star Medal.  He was united in marriage with Andrea Chapman in 1976. Together they raised their son, Stacy.

LeRoy’s last place of employment was with Donaldson’s in Oelwein.  LeRoy was very handy and was one to do many things to help out anyone he could.  He enjoyed working on cars, riding his Harley and doing activities out in the yard.  He loved spending time with his wife and grandkids.

Left to celebrate LeRoy’s life are his wife Andrea; his son Stacy (Kelly), Independence; his two grandsons: Blake and Brent Henderson; his granddaughter: Lauryn Henderson; and his two brothers Dale Hand, Cedar Rapids and David (Karyl), Independence and his many adored nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws Cecil and Mary Chapman; and his sister-in-law Betty Hand.
