Lynn Landis
December 3, 1946 - October 30, 2022

Lynn Landis, 75, of Oelwein passed away Sunday October 30, 2022 after a lengthy illness.  He was surrounded by his loving family at Allen Memorial Hospital Hospice in Waterloo.  Visitation will be from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Thursday November 3, 2022 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Funeral services will then begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Duane Olsen officiating.  Inurnment will be at a later date.  A memorial fund has been established. 

Lynn Leroy Landis was born at home in rural Fayette County on December 3, 1946, welcomed by his mother Alma (Voshell) and father Paul, as well as siblings Charlie, Carol, Lynda, Lloyd and Lois.  On October 30th, he was returned to the welcoming embrace again of his parents, and three siblings.

Lynn attended school in Maynard until the passing of his father, and then transferred to the Oelwein School District.  He joined the Navy in 1964 and was deployed to Newfoundland and was stationed in Virginia Beach, VA and Memphis, TN. 

Lynn then married Lorraine (Coffman) Landis in December of 1972.  They moved to Fayetteville, NC where he worked as a welder.  They had a daughter and then moved back to Iowa where they remained, having another child, a son. 

Lynn worked hard all of his life as a welder for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and other businesses, and as a CNA.  He enjoyed working with most of his coworkers and giving his all every day.

After Lorraine’s passing, and with her permission, he married iRenee Cornish-Monnahan in a small ceremony in Sparta, WI where they lived until they returned to the family home in Oelwein in 2010. 

Lynn loved being with his family and friends.  His favorite pastime was woodworking, watching woodworking videos on YouTube, finding deals on Facebook marketplace and starting many, many projects.  He told lots of stories and helped people when and where he could.  He was a mentor to quite a few people in his life. 

Lynn is survived by his wife, iRenee of Oelwein; his children, Barb (Kevin) Jones of Independence, and Paul Landis of Oelwein; his step-children, Tim (Krista) Cornish of Sparta, WI, and Melissa (Todd) Boltik of Sparta, WI; his grandchildren, Hunter (Leah) Trusty of Oelwein, Kyan and Raine Jones of Independence, Cody Skidmore of WI, Kaden and Toni Boltik, Josh (Anna) Cornish, Emma and Jase Cornish of Sparta, WI; his great-grandchildren, William and Alex of Oelwein, Ryan and Bennett Cornish of Sparta, WI and Evelyn of Sparta, WI; his siblings, Carol (Gary) Rummens of Oelwein and Lois (Greg) Terral of TX; as well as many other family and friends.
