Margaret March
July 13, 1929 - June 21, 2026

Margaret J. March passed away June 21, 2026, after a short illness.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday July 2, 2026 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home of Oelwein.  Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday July 3, 2026 at Grant View Cemetery at Greeley.

Margaret was born to Gordon and Adelia Tibbott on July 13, 1929, and was raised in the Greeley area. She married Ronald L March on February 19, 1949, when he returned from Italy where he was serving in WWII. Together they raised five children: Randy, Marsha, Mark, Gloria, and Joni. Margaret graduated from Greeley High School and went on to the University of Northern Iowa to earn her teaching certificate. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse near Oneida. Farming became their fulltime occupation. When she wasn’t milking, doing chores or chasing kids, she candled eggs in Dundee. They moved from Dundee to Stanley, Iowa in March of 1962 where they continued farming.

Margaret worked for the Post Office and became the Stanley Postmaster in June1981 until August of 1991 when she retired. After retirement she volunteered with the Cedar Valley Hospice, danced with the Golden Girls Line Dancers, and was an active quilter and member of the Hazleton Trinity United Methodist church.

She is survived by her five children, Randy March (Carol Popham)of Stanley Iowa, Marsha (Steve) Fleming of Lamont Iowa, Mark (Maggie) March of Oelwein Iowa, Gloria (Brian) Knoke of Atwater Minnesota and Joni (Kirt) Hershey of Hazelton Iowa, one sister Helen Amling of Greeley Iowa, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, one daughter-in-law, one great granddaughter, one great grandson, and one granddaughter-in-law.
