Mark Hillman
October 15, 1962 - August 25, 2025

Mark Hillman, 62, of Stanley passed away Monday August 25, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00PM on Tuesday September 2, 2025 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Funeral services will begin at 10:30AM on Wednesday September 3, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Oelwein with Pastor Dave Byrd officiating.  Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at Hazleton with Military Honors by the American Legion Honor Guard of Oelwein.  Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.

Mark Allen Hillman was born in Oelwein on October 15, 1962 to parents Emery and Joan (Allen) Hillman.  He graduated from Oelwein High School with the class of 1981.  On July 23, 1983 he was united in marriage with Rita McManigle in Stanley.  Mark served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1983-1987.  He was employed as an Automotive Technician.

Mark was a devoted husband, father and friend.  Nathaniel, Izak and his grandchildren will remember his strong, loud and stern voice, but also his big heart.  Marks friends will remember him as a kind and caring soul “with a dry sense of humor”.  Mark could always be called for great advice and if he could, he would jump in his car to help them.  Mark’s greatest love would be farming God’s land while showing Myles the way of the land.  Mark will be dearly missed by all.

Left to celebrate Mark’s life are his wife Rita of Stanley; his sons: Nathaniel Hillman of Davenport and Izak (Katie Frazer) Hillman of Oelwein; his mother Joan Hillman of West Union; his mother-in-law Lynn McManigle of Stanley; his sister Marian Mallam of MN; his brothers: Michael (Pat) Hillman of Oelwein and Marvin (LaVelle) Hillman of Winthrop; his Brothers-in-law: Ken Jr. (Deb) McManigle of Oelwein and Steve McManigle of Stanley; his grandchildren: Myles, Carston, Kenndon, Izabelle, Sully, Madilynn and Corbin; his several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; as well as friends Jeanette Lillibridge and Keith Franks.

He was preceded in death by his father Emery Hillman; his father-in-law Ken McManigle; his brother-in-law Duncan Mallam and his grandparents.
