Marty Woods
July 18, 1965 - March 2, 2019

Marty Frank Woods, 53, passed away on Saturday March 2, 2019, at his home in Hazleton.  Visitation will be from 2-4 PM with funeral services beginning at 4:00 PM on Sunday March 10, 2019 at Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Interment will be held privately at Fontana Cemetery in Hazleton.

Marty was born in Oelwein on July 18, 1965 to parents Frank and Janet (Burco) Woods.  He graduated from Oelwein High School with the class of 1983.  Marty took care of his family’s farm in Hazleton for most of his life.  He had a true love for farming and taking care of everything that came with it.  If Marty wasn’t in the fields, you would find him driving around looking at other people’s machinery and finding people to make small talk with.  He had endless questions to ask and advice to give.  He was a very giving person and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.  Marty had a goofy, one of kind personality that will be truly missed by his close family and friends.

Left to celebrate Marty’s life is his long-time companion Carol Sawvel of Hazleton and her children: Jessi Crawford and Jen Tournier; grandchildren: Hayden, Hartley, Cade and Colt; his uncles: Gaylen Burco of Oelwein and Jerald (Sonia) Burco of Oelwein; his aunts: Lois Busby of Edmond, OK and Laurel Evans of Chillicothe, OH; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Chad Woods; his aunt Judy Prindle and uncle Cecil Woods.
