Dorothy and I were sadened to learn of Mary's death. She was always the most cheerful employee and really ran the office, while always being a great friend to our family. We will miss her, but know she and "Dutch" are in great company, lying near Ed & Helene Steele in eternal rest. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Stofer family.

I will always remember Mary with fondness. Growing up, whenever I had to stop at the warehouse, Mary greeted me with smiles, happiness, and always took an interest in what was happening in my life. She was a great secretary for AJ Steele Co, a great family friend, and a fabulous person. Sympathies to her entire family.

Mary will be missed. Her smile was infectious. Our inside joke was "Mary Esther" as she was known in Elliot. She shared this with me when I was serving the Elliot United Methodist Church. Folks in Elliot would tell me I knew their relative from Oelwein...soon I learned why I hadn't made the connection. In Oelwein she was Mary...after Elliot she was Mary Esther...and she always signed her cards that way. I was blessed to have known her. My sympathy to all who loved her and Dutch.
