Mervin Gregerson
December 26, 1924 - October 25, 2022

Mervin Gregerson, 97, of Oelwein passed away Tuesday October 25, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Waterloo.  Visitation will be from 10:30 AM-11:30 AM on Tuesday November 1, 2022 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Funeral Services will then begin at 11:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev. John Kerr officiating.  Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at Volga.  A memorial fund has been established.

Mervin L. Gregerson was born in Volga on December 26, 1924 to parents Melvin and Winifred “Fern” (Ensign) Gregerson.  He graduated from Elkader High School.  On January 16, 1952 he was united in marriage with Lois Weyant in West Union.  Mervin was a farmer, as well as a long-time truck driver.

Mervin loved his family and enjoyed sharing the family history, pictures, and stories of his younger years with family and friends.  He was a hard worker who loved farming, and was passionate about growing crops and raising cattle. 

Mervin enjoyed collecting John Deere tractors, going to Antique Acres, auctions, museums, dancing, and reading.  The past several years he enjoyed his trips to South Dakota to visit his son, Greg, and his family.  He wanted to make one more trip to visit them, which he was able to do earlier this month.

Left to celebrate Mervin’s life are his wife Lois; his children: Lyle (Pat) Gregerson of Elkader, Karen (Alan) Spragg of Oelwein, Janise Meggers of Elkader, Greg (Leanne) Gregerson of Rapid City, SD; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; his brothers-in-law: Whitey Weyant of Center Point and Vernie Larson of Sierra Vista, AZ; his sisters-in-law: Pat Hanson of Oelwein, Shirley Weyant of Ames and Phyllis Engler of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents in-law George and Lulu Weyant; his brother: Merle (Agnes) Gregerson; his grandchildren: Melissa Cook, Dakota and Seth Gregerson; his brothers and sisters-in-law: John (Luella) Pattison, Don Weyant, Louie Pfiester, Charles Hanson, Mary Weyant, Eula Larson, Marlin (Vickie) Weyant and Duane Engler.
