Paul Jarchow
November 4, 1924 - June 7, 2017

Paul R. “Pat” Jarchow, 92, of Oelwein passed away and joined his wife Charlotte on Wednesday June 7, 2017 at Ravenwood Specialty Care in Waterloo.  Visitation will be from 10:30 AM-12:00 PM on Monday June 12, 2017 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Masonic Services will then begin at 12:00 PM.  Inurnment will be at a later date.

Pat was born on November 4, 1924 in Oelwein to parents John and Ida (Meyer) Jarchow.  He enlisted in the United States Army on January 24, 1943 at Camp Dodge where he received training as a radio operator.  During WWII Pat was deployed to France where he served as a paratrooper.  He was honorably discharged on January 30, 1946.  He was employed with Rath Packing for 36 years.

Pat met Charlotte O’Daniel at a dance in the Coliseum in Oelwein.  After a year and a half of dating, they married on June 12, 1949.  They produced their own “heir and a spare”, Greg in 1951 and Tim in 1955.  Pat enjoyed family fishing trips to Minnesota, golfing, singing old songs and dancing.  Pat also loved his Masonic Lodge in Oelwein and his Lodge buddies there.

Left with memories of his life are his sons Greg (Vickie) of Oelwein and Tim (Bea) of Virginia; his granddaughter Brooke (Rod) Studebaker of Oelwein; his grandsons Jason Judge and Aaron Jarchow of Virginia; his great-grandchildren Adara, Ryann and Ethan Studebaker; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Charlotte (February 28, 1997); all of his brothers and their wives: Vaylerd and Mary Jo, Alfred and Arlene, Lester and Fontella, Dale and Nadine, and his sister Marie in infancy.
