Ruth Francois-Luckeroth
October 31, 1930 - October 21, 2016

Ruth (Francois) Luckeroth, 85, of Oelwein passed away on Friday October 21, 2016.  Visitation will be from 4-7PM on Monday October 24, 2016 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein with Catholic Daughters of America Rosary Services at 4PM and Parish Scripture Services at 7PM.  Funeral Services will begin at 11AM on Tuesday October 25, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein.  Interment will be in St. Albert Cemetery at Lamont.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Ruth was born in Lamont on October 31, 1930 to parents Mathias and Maude (Pratt) First.  She graduated from Dundee High School with the class of 1947.  On July 15, 1948 she was united in marriage with Edward Francois at Masonville.  He passed away on November 17, 1991.  On January 3, 1998 she was united in marriage with Gerald “Jerry” Luckeroth at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein.  Ruth was a homemaker and enjoyed her family.  She also enjoyed golf, fishing, dancing and flowers.  She liked making Christmas candy, watching baseball games and keeping score at softball games.

Left to celebrate Ruth’s life is her husband Jerry;  her children: Shirley Francois of Strawberry Point, Mark (Ellen) Francois of Dundee, Steve (Cam) Francois of Dundee, and Jeffrey (Janet) Francois of Holy Cross; her step-children: Ron (Jeneane) Luckeroth, Susan (Ron) Mausser, Chris (Chrissie) Luckeroth and Ann (David) Schmidt of Oelwein; 14 grandchildren, Malissa (Joe), Marci (Nick),  Matt (Kristy), Mathew (Rechel), Susan (Brad), Sarah (John), Stephanie (Adam), Leah (Jarred), Alexa, Tyler, Samantha, Ashley, Tyler and Jonathan; 22 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Ed Francois (1991); daughter Ann Therese Francois; son Donald Joseph Francois; granddaughter Katherine, great-granddaughter Katarina, great-grandson Kinnick; brother Bill First; sisters: Mildred Downing, Florence Gross and Donna Staton.

Sending my condolences to the family. Ruth will always be remembered for her ability to always make everything alright. Spent many hours sitting with her at ballgames. I will always remember her for taking me to the hospital when I had an attack in the middle of a playoff game. She was a great friend to many!
