Sharon Lorsung, 80, of Oelwein passed away Monday May 29, 2023 at Grandview Healthcare Center in Oelwein.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday June 6, 2023 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein with a Rosary service beginning at 3:45 PM.  Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday June 7, 2023 at the funeral home with Deacon Jim Patera officiating.  Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at Hazleton.  In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.

Sharon Lynne Lorsung was born in Davenport on February 17, 1943 to parents Merwin and Jeanne (Cummings) Wellendorf.  She graduated high school in davenport.  On February 17, 1972 she was united in marriage with David Lorsung in Davenport.  David and Sharon owned and operated Floral Hills Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home for many years, where she fulfilled many roles, such as bookkeeper and florist.  Sharon spent many years being actively involved and volunteering in the Oelwein community.

Left to celebrate Sharon’s life are her children: Lyn (Jack) Smith of Oelwein, Gene (Onna) Lorsung of Shellsburg, Kris (Jim Walters) Bengtson of Oelwein and Grant Lorsung of Anaheim, CA; her eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; her three sisters.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother.
