Sheldon Kirby, 68, of Oelwein passed away Sunday March 22, 2026.  A Celebration of Life will be from 12:00 PM-4:00 PM on Saturday April 11, 2026 at the American Legion in Hazleton.  The Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home of Oelwein is assisting the family.

Sheldon Paul Kirby was born in Iowa City on March 1, 1958 to parents Charles and Charlotte (McCann) Kirby.  On June 7, 1975 he was united in marriage with LaRee Snyder in Independence.  Sheldon was a longtime mechanic and had been employed with Spiffy’s Towing as well as Triangle Plastics.

Left to celebrate Sheldon’s life are his wife LaRee; his children: Joshua Kirby of Independence, Jennifer Kirby of Oelwein and Nathan Kirby of Oelwein; his grandchildren: Kiara, Dominique, Ethan, Eric and Natalie; his great-grandchildren: Aubriella and Eastyn; his siblings: Diana (Moe) King of Quasqueton and Dorance (Sandy) Kirby of Quasqueton; his sister-in-law Marvis Kirby as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Justin Kirby (1975), his brother Steven Kirby and his nephew Travis Kirby.
