Sidney Boleyn
November 10, 1938 - March 28, 2026

Sidney “Sid” Boleyn, 87, of Oelwein passed away Saturday March 28, 2026 at MercyOne Hospital in Oelwein. Visitation will be held on Friday April 3, 2026 from 12:00PM-1:00PM at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein. Funeral Service will then begin at 1:00PM.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein.

Sidney Gene Boleyn was born in Oelwein on November 10, 1938 to parents Fern (Jacoby) and Tom Leonard Boleyn. He attended Oelwein High School.  After serving in the Iowa National Guard Sid joined the US Navy in 1956. On January 27, 1962 he was united in marriage to Donna Mae Michels in Fairbank, Iowa. They were married for 42 years.  Sid worked for the Railroad in Oelwein as well as running a small Handyman Business. After retiring from the Railroad he ran a franchise of RedWheel Fundraising.

Sid enjoyed playing cards, fishing and camping. He loved animals rescuing several stray dogs and cats over the years. Some of his happiest times were working with his son Tim on stockcars and racing at Echo Valley Speedway. As well as rebuilding a Firebird with his grandson Quinton. He loved to take his family and many times his nephews Tom, Rick and Bob on camping trips. He even converted an old school bus into a camper, which to the horror of his children, he painted bright green and named it Sweet Pea.

Sid is survived by his children: Kim (Mark) McLeish of Sumner, Wanda (Tim) Smith of Urbandale, Darin (Jill) Boleyn of Oelwein, Tim (Sheila) Boleyn of Hazelton; his grandchildren: Mackensi (Jared) Haugen, Bailey Smith, Nicole (Mitch) Troyer, Sami Boleyn (Chris Moreno), Dylan Boleyn, Hanna Boleyn (Richard Tournier), Andrea (Adam) White, Austin Boleyn, Jenna Boleyn, and Rainy Lathrop (Michael Taylor); his 13 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Roger (Marlys) Boleyn of Oelwein and Judy Walker of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his grandsons Quinton and Devin Berkes and grand-Daughter Breanna Boleyn; his siblings: Dwayne Boleyn, Lillian Welsh, Mildred Braley, Eleanora “Nora” Beahr, Virginia Braley, Shirley Milligan, Ralph Boleyn and Tommie Boleyn.

The family would like to thank the Oelwein Care Center and St. Croix Hospice for the loving care they provided.
