Steve Cummings, 75, of Oran passed away Tuesday September 9, 2025 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday September 12, 2025 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein. Services will begin at 10:30AM on Saturday September 13, 2025 at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Johnson officiating. Steven Michael Cummings was born on January 7, 1950 in Oelwein, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm in Oran with his three sisters and parents. He graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in 1968 and continued his education at Hawkeye Technical Institute and graduated as an Auto Body Technician.
After graduating school he continued to farm and work for Terry Kane’s Auto Body until he bought the business and moved it to Oran, Iowa. He worked full-time for Transco Railway Products in Oelwein, drove semi part-time for Bill Ott, while still running Steve’s Auto Body Shop.
February 19, 1972 he married Sandi Ott. Their son Brett was born March 6, 1973 in Oelwein. Later they divorced.
He married Tye Mutch on April 28, 1979 and they later divorced.
After leaving Transco he worked for Weaver Construction and in 1987 he opened up Steve’s Auto Body Shop in Oelwein until 2013. He moved the business to Oran and continued to work part-time until he passed.
Steve enjoyed spending time with his family, riding motorcycles, fishing, hunting, canoeing, traveling and Halls on the River in Kentucky.
Left to celebrate Steve’s life are his son Brett (Kelly) Cummings of Fairbank; his sisters: Vicki Rohrick of Oelwein, Connie Karsten of Waseca, MN and Audrey Turitto of Hager City, WI; his grandchildren: April (Dylan) Bickford, Kodi (Max Roenek) Rundquist, Paul “PJ” Rundquist, Ayden Cummings, Katie Rundquist and Landon Cummings; great-grandchildren: Addilynn Bickford, Damon Bickford and Matthew Roenek; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
