Rodney Marshall Weidman was born on March 20, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Harold Charles and Mary Lou (Trainor) Weidman. The family moved to a farm near Westgate, Iowa in 1962. Rod graduated from West Central High School in Maynard, Iowa and later received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Rodney loved music and played both the guitar and the drums. He played the drums for a band he and his friends started up while they were still in high school and they had a great time. He enjoyed working on cars and doing auto body repairs. Rodney had a strong faith in God and enjoyed sharing this by giving away bibles to his friends and people in need of help and encouragement. He was never married but he had many friends and a close family. He will be missed by them all.
He is survived by his sister, Pam and her husband, Charles Kottkle of Fredericksburg, Iowa; a niece, Jennifer Stahlhut; three nephews, Adam, Chad and Matthew Stahlhut; five great nieces and a great nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary Lou (Mickey) and three brothers, Gregory, Stanley and Stanley's twin brother.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, November 16, 2009 at Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein, IA. Services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Geilenfeld Funeral Home.
