Phyllis Banning, 82, of Oelwein passed away on Sunday February 24, 2013 at Grandview healthcare Center.
Visitation will be from 11AM-1PM on Sunday March 3, 2013 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home. Funeral services will then begin at 1PM that day. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to her family.
Phyllis was born on December 11, 1930 to parents William and Vera (Richardson) Schneider in rural Decorah. She attended rural schools in the Decorah area. She enjoyed camping and fishing, crocheting, dancing and music, cooking and especially enjoyed time with her family. She will be dearly missed.
Left to celebrate Phyllis’ life are her daughters: Angie Beaman of Oelwein and Peggie Prentice of Waterloo; her son Stanley (Mary) Dowd of Cedar Rapids; her daughter-in-law Sue Dowd-Mayer of Aurora; her sister Lois (Leonard) Steele of Ellsworth; 16 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 18 step great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 5 step great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
