Betty Egan, 84, of Oelwein passed away Tuesday October 8, 2019 at MercyOne Hospital in Oelwein. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Sunday October 13, 2019 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home with a Rosary Service beginning at 3:30 PM and Parish Scripture Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM on Monday October 14, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with Fr. Ray Atwood officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at Hazleton. A memorial fund has been established.

Elizabeth Ann Egan was born October 24, 1934 in Oelwein to parents Matthew Sr. and Elizabeth (Burghart) Kisner. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School with the class of 1953. On July 2, 1954 she was united in marriage with Richard Egan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. They later divorced. Betty had been employed as a CNA with Mercy Hospital. She then was a CNA with Grandview Healthcare Center in Oelwein, retiring in 1996 after 23 years.

Betty was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rosary Society and the 500 Card Club. She was devoted to her faith; her weekly visits with Carol Hamilton made her love of Christ even stronger. Betty’s love for her family was like no other; her generosity, love and kindness will forever be in their hearts.

Betty’s love for the Chicago Cubs was a close 2^nd to her faith and family; no matter where she was they had to have the Cubs channel on and ready to go. She couldn’t wait to go to the casino with her daughters. The “Life of Luxury” was her game as long as she had her faith, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the Cubs. Betty was a simple woman with an enormous heart.

Left to celebrate Betty’s life are her children: James (Nancy) Egan of Oelwein, John Egan of Oelwein, Mark (Michelle) Egan of Las Vegas, Mary Ann (Paul) Michels of Hazleton and Roberta “Birdie” Egan of Oelwein; her grandchildren: Tanya, Nikki, Nathan, Kelly, Kara, Amber, Aimee, Ally and Kyle; her 14 great-grandchildren; her brother Larry (Vi) Kisner of Parkersburg; several nieces and nephews and her special friend Carol Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Matt, Sylvester “Wes”, Joe and John Kisner; her sisters: Millie Selonke, Helen Roth, Marie Satterlee, Kate Gaffney, Theresa Fink and Ann Hyde; her granddaughter Jessica.
