Cody Dowd
November 1, 1984 - January 26, 2017

Cody Dowd, 32, of Oelwein passed away on January 26th, 2017 at his home. Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein. Services will then begin at 11:00 am.  A memorial fund has been established in Cody’s name. 

Cody was born on November 1, 1984 in West Union, Iowa the son of Raymond and Sue (Carnicle) Dowd. He grew up in the Oelwein area graduating from Oelwein High School in 2003. Cody worked with a friend helping him do roofing. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed the great outdoors, hiking, kayaking, target shooting, woodworking, even cutting fire wood and hanging out with his friends, but his greatest love was his time with his children especially taking them with him into the woods. Cody had many friends and a wonderful family and will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by his children: Madison Voshell, Coda Dowd and Cade Dowd all of Oelwein; his mother Sue (Robert) Bellmer of Oelwein; his brothers: Rocky Dowd and Ethan Dowd of Oelwein; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Dowd; grandmother Phyllis Banning and aunt Angie Beaman.
