Melba J. Doudney was born on September 26, 1939 in Hawkeye, Iowa, the daughter of Newton Edward and Florence (King) Lee. She grew up in the area and on July 3, 1965, she was united in marriage to Leland Doudney in Preston, Minnesota. Melba dedicated her life to raising her family and later to enjoying all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Melba enjoyed doing everything with her family and her favorite day was the fourth of July with all it’s activities and especially the parade. She enjoyed life and her family and they will all miss her very much.
She is survived by her husband, Leland of Fairbank, two sons, Herb (Gail) Doudney and Newton (Irene) Doudney all of Oelwein, a daughter, Pam Doudney of Fairbank, eight grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Josie (Andrew Heth), Jennifer, Jayden, Tara, Samantha and Ciara, also 3 great grandchildren, Nathan, Makenzie and Jolene and two sisters, Shirley Holub of Oran, Iowa and Carol Randell of Oelwein. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Robert and Edward, two sisters, Irene and Betty and a half-sister, Iva Mae Parker and her parents, Newton and Florence.
Services: 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Geilenfeld Funeral Chapel in Oelwein, Iowa with Rev. John Kerr officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation: 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, June 21, 2010 at Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein.
