Calvin Duckett
May 27, 1930 - February 24, 2013

Calvin Eugene Duckett, 82, of Oelwein passed away on Sunday February 24, 2013 at Grandview Healthcare Center after a long battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 10:30AM-12:30PM on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 12:30PM on Wednesday at the funeral home as well.  Inurnment will be at a later date.

Calvin was born May 27th, 1930 to Fred and Daisy (Rosenstiel) Duckett.  He was raised on a farm in Stanley, Iowa.  He then served in the United States Air Force for 10 years.  He met Sharon Johnson and was married August 20th, 1960.  He retired from the Air Force November, 1960.

The couple moved to Iowa where Calvin worked for an implement dealer as a mechanic in Oelwein.  Later he obtained employment at John Deere Tractor Works for 25 years, retiring in 1989.

Calvin loved his family and friends.  He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, gardening and mowing his lawn.  Often you could find him outside on the front porch watching the people go by.

He is survived by his wife Sharon; daughter Deborah Duckett; daughter, Teresa Duckett of Clear Lake, Iowa; a son Randy Duckett of Sandsprings, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  Two brothers, Harold and Howard Duckett both of Central City, Iowa; two sisters Della Stohr and Donna Mohlis of Hazelton, Iowa. 

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, step-mother Lola Fern Duckett, 2 grandchildren and 3 brothers, Mathew, Clifford and Clarence Duckett.
