LaVerle Marie Griesbaum, 90, of Oelwein died Friday, February 14, 2014 at Oelwein Healthcare Center. Per LaVerle’s request there will be no services or visitation. Geilenfeld Funeral Home is caring for LaVerle and her family.
LaVerle was born October 8, 1923 in Oelwein, Iowa the daughter of William and Edna (Olander) Bush. She was educated in Oelwein. On January 8, 1944 she was united in marriage to Paul Griesbaum in Waterloo, Iowa. LaVerle was a home maker most of her married life. With her husband they opened their home to care for three orphaned cousins, three uncles and in later years her mother. She also made a home for and was a mother to her nephews, Buzz (Paula) Bush, Joe (Jacque) Bush of Oelwein and niece, Andrea (Gary) Grinstead of Hazleton, Iowa. LaVerle, who had a heart of gold, was “Grandma Honey” to her many loving great nieces and nephews, and her great great nieces and nephews. Also surviving her is a sister-in-law, Jean Bush of Galva, Illinois. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
LaVerle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1975, a sister Lucille and two brothers, Leo and Donald Bush.
