Jane Logan
March 31, 1948 - November 17, 2020

Jane Logan, 72, of Oelwein passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospital.  Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM on Wednesday November 25, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein.  Inurnment will be at a later date.  A memorial fund has been established.

Jane Colleen Logan was born in Oelwein on March 31, 1948, to parents John and Marguerite (Kirby) O’Hara.  She graduated from Oelwein High School with the class of 1967.  On April 16, 1966, she was united in marriage with John Logan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein, and they later divorced.  Jane was employed as a cook and kitchen manager at the Oelwein Middle School for 21 years.  She was a long-time member of the American Legion.

Jane was a strong, resilient woman who had a fierce love for her children and grandchildren.  You could show up or call at any hour of the day or night and she was always there with an open heart and listening ear, ready to chat, help or even just keep the silence with you.  She found so much joy in watching us all grow, and loved being with us the most.  She filled our bellies with our favorites: her crème de menthe cake and deviled eggs were loved by many.  She loved decorating for every holiday, and was a firm believer that Christmas decorations were meant to go up the first Sunday of November, without fail.  She would've saved all the dogs if she could have, and believed that they are wiser than we give them credit for.  She thought there were few things better than a taco salad, a marshmallow malt, or a beer at the Legion with a good friend.

Jane saw both the beauty and humor in life, and she loved a good laugh.  She believed in God with her whole heart, and she prayed to him that her loved ones were safe, happy and healthy (and that none of them would inherit John's ears).  She will be dearly missed by so many people, and would want us all to be good to each other.  We will forever remember the love in her eyes and hugs that wrapped her endless love around us.

Left to celebrate Jane’s life are her children: Jamie (Mandy) Logan of Oelwein, Jodi (Arnold) Logan of Cedar Falls, Joe (Carolina) Logan of Florida and Jeremy (Jean) Logan of Oelwein; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her siblings: Jack (Zeta) O’Hara of Minnesota, Don O’Hara of Oelwein, Billy (Shirley) O’Hara of Des Moines and Pete (Lori) O’Hara of California; her brother-in-law Chub Liebe; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Kay Liebe; and her sister-in-law Joan O’Hara.
