Kay Hufford
August 18, 1938 - August 2, 2021

Kay Hufford, 82, of Oelwein passed away Monday August 2, 2021.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein.

Kay Arlene Hufford was born in Oelwein on August 18, 1938 to parents Donald and Neva (Dixon) Folsom.  She attended Oelwein schools.  In 1957 she was united in marriage with Melvin “Pete” Ohl and they later divorced.  In 1963 she was united in marriage with Ronald Hufford Sr. and they later divorced.  Kay was a Nurse’s Aide.  She worked primarily in home healthcare in Oelwein and the surrounding area.

Kay had a lifelong love of horses, dogs and all living things.  She showed her White Stallion, Snowball, for many years, travelling as far as California with him.  Together they won many trophies and ribbons.

Later in life, she turned her attention to her dogs and stray cats.  Often times her family teased her about becoming the “Crazy Cat Lady”.  Kay also loved playing Rummy Cube with anyone she could sucker into a game (it was thought she may have cheated).  She had an unfailing love for her family and cherished every moment spent with them.

Left to celebrate Kay’s life are her children: Debra (Dennis) Ameling, Ronald Hufford Jr., Rick (Sherry) Hufford, Donald (Dolly) Ohl and Ronda (Lynn) Hadler; her grandchildren: Jeramy Warren, bonus granddaughter Tina Nichols, Kristen (Cody) Fahr, Nicole (Jose) Nava, Travis Hufford, Ryan Rieck, Marcus (Cheyanne) Rieck and Nicholas Harmon; great-grandchildren: Macey Warren, May Lynn Warren, Rayne Hurd, Cruz Nava, Macie Nava, Paisley Rieck, Aiden Rieck, Clay Fahr and little Fahr on the way; her siblings: Shirley Dunstan, Bobbi Toburen and Jim Folsom; her fur baby Scooter and her favorite fish Herman.

Waiting to meet Kay at the gates are: her parents; her sister and brother-in-law Donna and Robert Rohrick; her sister-in-law Dobrina Folsom; her brother-in-law Paul Dunstan; her special friend Bob Bass; her fur babies: Jake, Jack and Smokey.
