Marlys I. Klevjer, 81, of Oelwein passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Oelwein Healthcare Center. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 am at Geilenfeld Funeral Home on Wednesday October 15, 2014. Services will then be at 11:00 am on Wednesday as well, with Rev. Charis Combs-Lay officiating. A memorial fund has been established in Marlys’ name.
Marlys I. Klevjer was born in Mason City, Iowa to Robert and Adella (Crosby) Russell, Sr. Her family moved around during her younger years, graduating from Oelwein High School in 1951. Marlys continued her education at Young’s Beautician College in Waterloo. She owned and operated Mickies Kut and Kurl from 1966 to 1997 when she retired. She married James Ishman and they had three children, Debra, Randy and Robin. They were later divorced, then she married Harry Klevjer and they were later divorced. Marlys enjoyed a good joke and the company of her family and friends. Her family was a big part of her life especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They will all miss her dearly.
She is survived by her son, Randy (Lori) Ishman of Oelwein and her daughter, Debra Fox of Oelwein; five grandchildren, William and Steve Ishman, Deann Fox and Sara and Shelby Shaffer; and three great grandchildren, Kayla, Rhett and Paislee. She was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Robin; a brother and his wife, Robert and Joyce Russell Jr. and her parents.
