Lucille Polark-Stammeyer
September 6, 1923 - March 22, 2015

Lucille Polark-Stammeyer, 91, of Oelwein passed away on Sunday March 22, 2015 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein.  Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Thursday March 26, 2015 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein with CD of A Rosary services at 4:00 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Friday March 27, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein.  A memorial fund has been established.

Lucille Carrie Polark-Stammeyer was born September 6, 1923 in Orchard, Iowa, the daughter of Roy Sr. and Mable (Hunt) Johns. She graduated in 1941 from the Stanley High School in Stanley, Iowa, where she played and lettered in basketball. She was also nominated to the first team all state in basketball. After high school she continued her education at Pitzi’s Beauty School in Waterloo. She was a beautician, operating a suburban beauty salon in Oelwein for thirty years. Lucille and her late husband Ken also owned and operated Ken’s Kamping Kove in New London, Minnesota for 17 years (1968-1985).   

On November 21, 1942 she was united in marriage with Ken Polark. He passed away in 1998. On February 23, 2001 she was united in marriage with her dearest friend, Frank Stammeyer.  

Lucille was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America in Oelwein.  She was kind, caring and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Left to celebrate Lucille’s life is her Husband Frank Stammeyer and his family; her children: Roger (Bobbi Jo) Polark of Antioch, IL, Jim (Mary Jo) Polark of Mt. Prospect, IL and Pam (Larry Schott) Polark of Hampton, IA; her 7 grandchildren; her 12 great-grandchildren; her brother Dan Bienfang of Porterville, CA; her sister-in-law Margaret (Pat) Johns of Orangevale ,CA; her cousin Darlene (JJ) Evers of Albuquerque, NM; as well as many friends.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents Roy Sr. and Mable; her father Roy Bienfang; her siblings: Roy Johns Jr., Florence Kelly, LeRoy Bienfang; and her son Dennis Polark (2001).
