Christine Alvena March, 92, of Oelwein passed away on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein. Visitation will be from 9:30-11AM on Saturday April 12, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. Funeral services will then be at 11AM on Saturday as well. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at Hazleton.
Christine was born on November 18, 1921 to Carl and Lillie (Rupp) March near Earlville, Iowa. She was baptized at Earlville Methodist Church on June 11, 1922 and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein on May 29, 1955. Christine attended Stanley School, graduating in 1939. After graduation, she helped on the farm and later was employed with Verbugt’s Grocery in Lamont, and Miller-Wohl, Bob’s Shoes and City Laundry in Oelwein. She retired in 1985.
Christine enjoyed her flowers and gardening, caring for her berries, grapes and apple trees. She also enjoyed helping at church when possible.
Christine is survived by her nephews and niece: Dean (Melinda) Teague of Randalia and their children: Michael and Loren, David (Nancy) March of Clarion and their son Jeremy, Dennis (Mary) March of Clarion and their children: Alison, Erin and Lauren, and Lois March-Robson of Walford and her children: Will, Kayla and Dylan; and her sister-in-law Margareta March of Oelwein.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Raymond March; her sister Geneva Teague; and her brother-in-law Glenn Teague.
