Mary Sue Roth
June 18, 1950 - March 17, 2017

Mary Sue Roth, 66, of Hazleton passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday March 17, 2017 at her home with her family by her side.  Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Tuesday March 21, 2017 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein with a Parish Scripture Service at 7:00 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday March 22, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at Hazleton.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Mary Sue was born on June 18, 1950 in Oelwein to parents Floyd and Collette (Rohrick) Barker.  She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School with the class of 1968.  On April 12, 1969 Mary Sue was united in marriage with John Roth at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hazleton.  She had been employed as a salesperson with Goodwill Industries as well as with J.C. Penney in Oelwein.  Over the years, she enjoyed BINGO, bowling, softball and playing cards.  Mary Sue also enjoyedcanning what John grew in his garden – corn, pickles, salsa – you name it! Her family really loved her hot dill pickles.  Mary Sue also loved animals – especially their dogs Josie and Coby.  Above all else she enjoyed time with her family, especially her grandchildren – whom she loved to spoil.

Left to celebrate Mary Sue’s life are her children: Charlotte (Douglas) Fauser of Indianapolis, IN, John (Karen) Roth of Cedar Falls and Paul (Mallory) Roth of Humboldt; her grandchildren: Adrianna, Nikole, Carter, Cory, Taylor, Peyton and Brady; her great-granddaughter Addison; her siblings: Mike (Ann) Barker of Oelwein, Patrick (Jeanne) Barker of Knoxville, TN, JoLynne (Jamie Pirillo) Barker of Oelwein and Jeanne (Steve) Roffman of Fairbank; many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband John (January 14, 2017) and her parents.
