Linda Jensen Masey was born on March 21, 1948 in Waterloo, Iowa the daughter of Melvin and Betty (Neuman) Jensen. Linda graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 1966 and then continued her education at Allen School of Nursing, graduating in 1969. Linda, an RN, in her professional life, worked in hospitals, nursing homes and in 2010, she retired from Northern Iowa Therapy of Waverly, Iowa. Aside from her professional and personal life, Linda made 17 missionary trips to do missionary work with the Masai Tribe in Kenya, Africa. She cared about the children of the Masai and her program educated many children as well as assisting with medical services and food support within the Masai. They were her family away from home. There was a school named in her honor, Linda Masey Primary School in Kenya, Africa. Linda could not have done all of this with out the support of her family, supporters in Oelwein and many others throughout the Upper Midwest. When Linda was at her home in Oelwein she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, teaching them to cook, entertaining them and enjoying their company. Linda was an avid Chicago Bears fan but also rooted for the Packers, as long as they were not playing the Bears. She was a wonderful lady who contributed much to make this world better. She will dearly be missed by all.
Linda is survived by her husband, Tom of Oelwein; a daughter, Christina Masey of Oelwein; four grandchildren, Collin, Conner, Helen “Betsy”, and Jensen Halligan; and her father, Melvin Jensen of Waverly, Iowa. She was preceded in death by a grandson Cael Masey Halligan and her mother, Betty.
