Patricia Brothers, 82, of Oelwein passed away Monday October 14, 2019. A Memorial Open House will be held from 2-5 PM on Monday October 21, 2019 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established.

Patricia Lou Brothers was born November 9, 1936 in Glendale, CA to parents Phillip and Virginia (Cattlet) Cosner. She graduated from Glendale High School with the class of 1953. Patricia greatly loved her family and her life.

Left to celebrate Patricia’s life are her children: Deborah (Steve Gabriel) Williams of Oelwein, Robin (Bobby) Mullins of Sacramento, CA, Laurie (James) Johnson of Pomona, CA, James (Corrina) Brothers of Ohio, Peggy (Eric) Gail of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Kenie Jo Pierce of Minot, ND and Patricia (Je’Kay) Lowe of Oelwein; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brothers: Robert (Elaine) Cosner of Bend, OR and Kirk (Lisa) Cosner of Huntington Beach, CA; her step-brother Bob Snyder of California; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Teri LaForce.

I received a direct message via Instagram from a friend who told me that he had invested $1,000 and got a return of $10,000, and that I could earn money too, by contacting cmyry_thaddeusfx on Instagram. I reached out to “Cmyry” and told her I was interested in investing. Cmyry was very smart and said she mined bitcoin. She also claimed to be an account manager and told me she would give me a high return on my investment. I sent $2,000 to purchase Bitcoin and transferred it to Cmyry who told me she had set up an account with her trading company, 247tradegrowth . net. At some point, my account balance showed I had made a profit of $21,800. But when I attempted to cash out, I was told that I had to pay a withdrawal fee of $3,650. I then contacted Cmyry, who convinced me to invest another $1,000 worth of bitcoin because I had done so well. After a week, my account showed a profit of $45,800. This time, when Cmyry told me she needed to pay a withdrawal fee, I sent $3,700. I had to borrow the money and followed a list of instructions Cmyry sent but was told my withdrawal was pending. I contacted Cmyry again, who told me to give the “Support Team” access to my Instagram account including backup codes. Soon I received a message from the Support Team saying I needed to pay more fees, up to $12,400in order to upgrade my account to comply with SEC regulations as my account balance was so high. I called Cmyry and pleaded with her that I needed my money back, but Cmyry didn’t reply. At this point, I realized this was a scam and reset my Instagram account again. I came to find out that the friend who had contacted me about Cmyry also had had their account hacked.
