Glen Charles Peterman
February 26, 1918 - June 1, 2010

Glen Charles Peterman was born on February 26, 1918, in Wadena, Iowa, the son of Charles and Effie (Voshal) Peterman. He grew up in the area and attended school in Oelwein. On March 23, 1935 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Toutch Lamphier. Glen was a semi driver for the OCCO Feed Co.  and worked for Case Imp. as a mechanic. In 1955 Dorothy and Glen started Pete and Dots, Pet Shop in their home at 400-9th Ave. SW. After the death of Dorothy he ran the pet shop until he sold it to his granddaughter, Nancy Penhollow, who made it what it is today. Glen ‘s best entertainment was going fishing or playing cards, but his greatest joy was his family, especially all his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Glen had a nice long and enjoyable life, making lots of friends and catching a lot of fish.

            Glen is survived by his four children, Virginia (john) Reuber of Oelwein, Dwain Peterman and his friend, Audrie Hahn of Oelwein, Vyonne (Larry) Fritz of Sumner, Iowa and Lorinda (Tim) Powelson of Oelwein; ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, ten step great grandchildren, seven step great great grandchildren and a special friend, Kathryn O”Dell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, a sister, Blanche Lloyd, two brothers, Clifton and Willard Peterman, two grandchildren in infancy, Lisa Kay Varagson and Elizabeth Bell Geisler and his parents, Charles and Effie.

Services:  1:00 pm on Friday – June 4, 2010 at Geilenfeld Funeral Chapel in Oelwein, Iowa.

Visitation:  From 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday – June 3, 2010 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein.
