Manuel Reames, 82, of Oelwein passed away on Wednesday March 19, 2014 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Memorial Services will be 11 AM on Tuesday March 25, 2014 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Schlitter officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the service time. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Ross Reid Post 9. Inurnment will be at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein. A memorial fund in Manuel’s name has been established.
Manuel was born on June 13, 1931 in Antlers, OK to parents Obie and Billie (Welch) Reames. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Manuel was united in marriage with Corda Spicer on August 31, 1979 in Reno, NV. He was a longtime truck driver until his retirement.
Manuel loved to go fishing, watch the NASCAR races on Sundays, go to the casino and his poodle Sarah. He enjoyed time with his family and his longtime special friend Kate, he will be dearly missed by all who knew and continue to love him.
Manuel is survived by his nephew John Bamford of Oelwein; his niece Tammy Bamford of Oelwein; his special friend Kate Weber of Independence; as well as friends.
Manuel was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Corda and his sister Georgia Bamford.
