Richard Buhr
June 24, 1949 - January 18, 2020

Richard Buhr, 70, of Oelwein passed away Saturday January 18, 2020 at MercyOne Medical Center in Waterloo.  Visitation will be 10:30 AM-12:00 PM on Monday January 27, 2020 at Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home.  Services will then begin at 12:00 PM.  Inurnment will be at a later date.  A memorial fund has been established.

Richard Wilmer Buhr was born June 24, 1949 in Fort Dodge, IA to parents Wilmer and Edna (Westendorf) Buhr.  He attended St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Westgate and then graduated from West Central in Maynard with the class of 1967.  On June 16, 1973 he was united in marriage with Shirley Miller at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Westgate.  Rich had farmed with his father and was employed with Hintz Furniture in Oelwein.  He has also been employed with Hancor and was a self-employed flooring contractor.  Rich loved vintage cars and drag racing.  He enjoyed farming, fishing and family.

Left to celebrate Rich’s life is his wife Shirley; his children: Nicholas Buhr of Dewitt, Skylar Buhr of Oelwein and Jessica Buhr of Oelwein; his siblings: David Glienke of Alta and Terry (Rhonda) Glienke of Cherokee; his grandchildren: Alexis and Ebon; many nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Elaine Smith; his mother and father-in-law Joe and Fannie Miller; his sister-in-law Katie Sorge and his brother-in-law Lee Miller.
