On Monday, February 15, 2021, Steven “Scott” MacArthur, loving husband, father of five and grandfather of 19 passed away from a heart attack at the age of 60.   Steven is being cremated per his request and a memorial service will be held in the Kankakee, IL area at a later date.

Steven was born July 9, 1960 in Calias, Maine to Mary (Mazur) and Steven MacArthur.  He is the oldest of three boys.  Steven met Kathryn Bates in 1979 and married in 1993.  They raised five children together.  Steven enjoyed fishing, cooking, puzzles, listening and dancing to ALL types of music and old school gaming (Dungeons & Dragons).  He was a great listener and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whenever he could.

Left to celebrate Steven’s life is his wife Kathryn; his five children: Naomi (Robert) Brown, Eddella Tetlalmatzi, Anthoney Bates, Edvard Bates, and Samantha MacArthur (Brian Deaton); 19 grandchildren: Mari Alexis, Hollie, Seth, Shontel, Isabel, Camelia, Sofia, Aydin, Damoen, Cody, Anthoney (Alex) Jr., Brandon,  Elizabeth, Jackie, Faith, Kaleb, Jesika, Jordan, Brent; two great-grandchildren: Karter Lee and Josiah Jr; four sister-in-laws and three brother-in-laws: Jackie and Joe Loosa, Karen and Ed Kaack, Roberta Forgue, Toni Bieber, Jimmy and Gretchen Bates, Ken and Cheryl Bates, and Robert and Arlene Bates.

 He was preceded in death by both parents and siblings.
