Thomas James Woods, 57, of Randalia, Iowa passed away at his home on Thursday, June 9, 2016. Visitation will be from 4-7 Pm onThursday, June 16, at the Geilenfeld Funeral home in Oelwein. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday June 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. Inurnment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. A Memorial fund has been established.

 

Tommy was born on September 5, 1958 in Oelwein, the son of Thomas and Carolyn Woods. He grew up in Oelwein and graduated from Oelwein High School in 1977. He was married to Terri Neunsinger in December of 1978. Together, they had two daughters, Courtney and Rachel. They were later divorced.

 

On June 1, 2002 he was united in marriage to Joyce Downs at West Union, Ia. Joyce passed away on September 15, 2015. Tommy was a farmer and took great pride in his craft. He also enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley, traveling with family and friends, and spending time on the Mississippi River.

Tommy had a great passion to counsel and help anyone in need. Nobody was ever a stranger to Tommy. His greatest love in life was his family and friends, especially his daughters and his three grandsons. Tommy will be missed by all for his great generosity, love, loyalty and kindness. 

 

Tommy is survived by his two daughters, Courtney Woods of Oelwein and Rachel Woods of Marion, Iowa; three grandsons, Brady Fettkether, Drakesyn Woods and Christian Watermann; three sisters, Janna (Jack) Woods Hamilton Houston, TX, Jody  Woods Thompson of Delray Beach FL and Jill Woods Kelly of Oelwein; and his parents, Thomas and Carolyn Woods of Oelwein.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; a brother-in-law, Keith Thompson, his Grandparents and a number of other family and close friends.

To the Woods family, you all have my heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your , son, Father, and Uncle! As a brother in law he was awesome to myself, my children, and our whole family! He always had a kind word to say, his bear hugs were the best! He loved his daughters and grandsons immensely, his face lit up whenever they were around! You will be solely missed Tommy by all those that loved you! Thoughts and prayers are with all if you as you navigate through this difficult time! Please know others share in your grief!
