Beryl June Wardell, 90, of Oelwein passed away on Monday March 31, 2014 at Grandview Healthcare Center. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM on Thursday April 3, 2014 at Christ United Presbyterian Church in Oelwein with Rev. Charis Combs-Lay officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday April 2, 2014 from 4-7 PM at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein.
Beryl was born on June 2, 1923 on the family farm in Fayette County, Iowa to parents Vernon and Jesse Maud (Gerken) Dibble. She grew up on the farm and later graduated from the Hazleton High School in 1941.
Beryl was united in marriage to Eldon Wardell on August 15, 1946 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. After living at various locations in Oelwein, Beryl and Eldon built a house west of City Park and enjoyed the “country” living. Beryl enjoyed cooking, gardening, camping, fishing and taking a good road trip. She enjoyed her family and the time she could spend with them, she also had many friends and they will all miss her dearly.
Beryl is survived by her husband Eldon; her son Tom Wardell of Cedar Rapids; her grandson Derek (Candice) Wardell of Cedar Rapids; her granddaughter Kristin (Tony) Paul of Hiawatha; her seven great grandchildren: Mercedes, Keaton, Braeton, Lillie, Kadon, Tanner and Lanai; and many nieces and nephews.
Beryl was preceded in death by her parents Vern and Maude; and her brothers: Frank, John, Lawrence and Fay.
